Der älter gewordene Maler, seine Ex-Frau (die Künstlerin Nahid Hagigat) und ihre gemeinsame Tochter Sara Nodjoumi sowie Schwiegersohn Till Schauder drehen diesen Film. Fesselnd dokumentieren sie in dieser ungewöhnlichen Konstellation, wie sie aus den USA heraus die verschwundenen Gemälde aufzuspüren versuchen. The young Iranian painter Nicky Nodjoumi once criticized the Persian Shah with provocative paintings while in exile in the US. After the Islamic Revolution, he exhibited his works at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in 1980. During the exhibition, he also fell out of favor with the mullahs. In order to save his life, he had to return to the USA.
Over 40 years later: protests are once again taking place in Iran. The aging painter, his ex-wife (the artist Nahid Hagigat) and their daughter Sara Nodjoumi and son-in-law Till Schauder make this film. In this unusual constellation, they captivatingly document how they try to track down the missing paintings from the USA.
