Das QueerFest, erstes und einziges LGBTI+-Filmfestival in der Türkei, findet seit 2011 in Ankara statt. Asya Leman beleuchtet anhand von Interviews mit den Gründern, Freiwilligen und Mitarbeitern von QueerFest die 14-jährige Geschichte des Festivals und die durch das politische Klima in der Türkei geprägte kulturell-künstlerische Landschaft. Durch Praktiken des Widerstands gegen die zunehmende Unterdrückung und Gewalt gegen LGBTI+ Menschen haben die Mitwirkenden das QueerFest zu einer Form der kollektiven Organisation entwickelt, die verbindet und ermächtigt. Der Film war Anlass für ein Veranstaltungsverbot durch den Gouverneur von Ankara.

Türkiye'nin ilk ve tek LGBTİ+ film festivali KuirFest, 2011 yılından bu yana Ankara'da gerçekleşiyor. Asya Leman, KuirFest'in kurucuları, gönüllüleri ve çalışanlarıyla yaptığı söyleşilerle festivalin 14 yıllık tarihine ve Türkiye'deki siyasi iklimin şekillendirdiği kültürel ve sanatsal manzaraya ışık tutuyor. LGBTİ+'lara yönelik artan baskı ve şiddete karşı direniş pratikleriyle KuirFest, katılımcıları birbirine bağlayan ve güçlendiren bir kolektif örgütlenme biçimine dönüştü. Film, Ankara Valisi tarafından etkinliğin yasaklanmasına neden olmuştu.

QueerFest, the first and only LGBTI+ film festival in Turkey, has been taking place in Ankara since 2011. Through interviews with the founders, volunteers and staff of QueerFest, Asya Leman sheds light on the 14-year history of the festival and the cultural-artistic landscape shaped by the political climate in Turkey. Through practices of resistance against the increasing oppression and violence against LGBTI+ people, the contributors have developed QueerFest into a form of collective organization that connects and empowers. The film was the reason for a ban on events by the governor of Ankara.
