Ein Mann und ein Kind kommen mit dem Bus in dem finnischen Ort Pohjanjoki an. Sie steigen aus, schauen sich um, gehen in ein Restaurant, das ein Wurst-Büffet ankündigt. Dort fragt der Mann nach einem „Mister Fongsong“ – aber niemand weiß, von wem er redet. Der Mann heißt Cheng. Er ist aus Shanghai nach Pohjanjoki gekommen, um seinen Freund Fongsong zu finden. Also wartet er in dem Restaurant, fragt jeden der Gäste nach Fongsong, aber niemand weiß ihm zu helfen. Die resolute Besitzerin Sirkka bietet ihm schließlich ein Zimmer zum Übernachten an. Ein Hotel gibt es in Pohjanjoki nicht. Und so bleiben Cheng und sein Sohn Nunjo zunächst über Nacht und dann noch länger…
Eine hinreißende Komödie, in der es nicht nur um Esskultur geht. Gedreht wurde der Film im Dorf Raattama in Lappland, unter Mitwirkung aller etwa 100 Dorfbewohner.

A man and a child arrive by bus in the Finnish town of Pohjanjoki. They get off, look around and go to a restaurant that advertises a sausage buffet. There, the man asks for a ‘Mr Fongsong’ - but nobody knows who he is talking about. The man's name is Cheng. He has come to Pohjanjoki from Shanghai to find his friend Fongsong. So he waits in the restaurant, asking each of the guests about Fongsong, but nobody knows how to help him. The resolute owner Sirkka finally offers him a room to stay the night. There is no hotel in Pohjanjoki. And so Cheng and his son Nunjo stay overnight and then even longer...
An enchanting comedy that is not just about food culture. The film was shot in the village of Raattama in Lapland, with the participation of all 100 or so villagers.
