Von einem Lager in Spanien aus begleitet der Dokumentarfilmer Jakob Preuss den Kameruner Paul über zwei Jahre bei dessen Versuch, Asyl in Europa zu bekommen. Anhand wichtiger Stationen zeichnet sein Film den schwierigen Weg des Flüchtlings nach und stellt die nicht immer übereinstimmenden Haltungen von Regisseur und Porträtiertem einander gegenüber.
Dabei wirft er zwangsläufig Fragen nach der Verantwortung des Einzelnen auf und vermeidet durch ständige Reflexion und die sachliche Montage eine emotionale Ausschlachtung des Flüchtlingsschicksals.

From a camp in Spain, the documentary filmmaker Jakob Preuss accompanies the Cameroonian Paul over two years in his attempt to obtain asylum in Europe. On the basis of important stations, his film traces the difficult path of the refugee and contrasts the not always coinciding attitudes of the director and the portrayed.
In doing so, he inevitably raises questions about the responsibility of the individual and avoids an emotional exploitation of the refugee's fate through constant reflection and objective editing.
Depuis un camp en Espagne, le documentariste Jakob Preuss accompagne pendant deux ans le Camerounais Paul dans sa tentative d'obtenir l'asile en Europe. À travers des étapes importantes, son film retrace le parcours difficile du réfugié et confronte les positions pas toujours concordantes du réalisateur et de son portrait.
Ce faisant, il soulève inévitablement des questions sur la responsabilité de chacun et évite, grâce à une réflexion constante et à un montage objectif, une exploitation émotionnelle du destin des réfugiés.
